What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Systems Administrator position at SynQor?
The Junior Systems Administrator will report to the IT Operations Manager while supporting SynQor’s server and network infrastructure. The Junior Systems Administrator will focus on maintaining and improving the company’s IT Infrastructure while exploring and learning new technologies as the company grows. The ideal candidate will possess a strong curiosity to understand root causes and implement effective solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain networks/servers and associated hardware, software, services, and settings.
- Act as the tier 2/3 escalation from help desk.
- Deploy and maintain the server and network infrastructure.
- Assist in maintaining the network and the ability to configure devices as needed for users and devices.
- Help configure and maintain network security appliances.
- Troubleshoot server and network issues efficiently to keep production downtime to a minimum.
- Maintain Servers in a virtualized environment.
- Configure new systems according to manufacturer’s best practices or company specifications.
- Maintain IT KB database for new systems and processes as they are put into place.
- Ensure backups are running and troubleshooting or escalating issues found.
- Workstation patch management and software deployment using SCCM/MECM.
- Work with venders to maintain various software/systems in service.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required or equivalent work experience
- Relative industry Certifications are preferred
- 1-3 years of experience required in the following areas:
- Working with and maintaining Windows Server 2016-2022.
- Installing operating systems and applications, installing and troubleshooting hardware, and Office productivity software
- Working with Microsoft architecture including AD, DNS, DHCP, Azure/Entra, Exchange Online.
- SSO Configurations
- Azure/Entra ID M365 and Exchange O365 Hybrid configuration
- LAN/WAN/VPN Technologies
- Configuring and working with Cisco Firepower, Cisco Catalyst, and Meraki
- Server and workstation patching
- History of strong troubleshooting and a continued desire to learn
- Comprehensive knowledge of networking concepts and computing infrastructures
- Proven skills in network engineering, operations, and performance analysis
- Experience with server management and monitoring tools
- Strong communication skills for training and assisting users
Preferred Skills:
- Hyper-Converged Infrastructure
- Backup Technologies
- Cisco / Meraki
- NGFW such as Cisco firepower or FortiGate
- MECM/SCCM / Intune
- Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working with a NAC and 802.1x network security
- Internal PKI
