Syntax Talent Solutions is seeking an interim Accounting Manager / Controller for an organization specializing in Nonprofit. This is an opportunity to assist one of our clients in creating business process improvements, along with assisting them with a backlog of work.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Develop, document, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and maintain strong internal controls.
- Support financial audits, grant reporting, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support leadership in strategic decision-making.
- Work on ad hoc financial projects, including process improvements, budgeting support, and system integrations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective financial operations and alignment with organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Experience with accounting system implementation and process automation.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting.
- Ability to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work on ad hoc financial projects.
