SUMMARY:
Syntax Talent Solutions is seeking a dynamic Plant/Manufacturing Controller to join a growing, family-owned manufacturer in Maryland. This role reports directly to the President and oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, and inventory management while driving improvements in processes and operational efficiency. Ideal candidates are adaptable, proactive problem-solvers with strong business acumen, critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage diverse priorities.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP/AR processing, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Perform month-end and year-end close, auditing and balancing company books.
- Analyze financial, operational, and labor reports to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Partner with the Inventory Manager to resolve inventory discrepancies and develop improved reporting tools.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies alongside customer service and inventory teams.
- Implement streamlined financial processes and enhanced inventory operation workflows.
- Prepare and submit financial documents for audits, taxes, and compliance in partnership with the CPA firm.
- Collaborate on system data migration and maintain data integrity in accounting and reporting software.
- Support daily business operations, office administration, and special projects as assigned by the President.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred, but not required.
- 5-8 years experience managing full-cycle accounting/financial operations for a small to mid-sized manufacturer, including cost accounting, P&L, and inventory operations.
- Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven success in process improvement and workflow development.
- Adaptable, proactive, and forward thinking with the ability to pivot across priorities without getting easily overwhelmed.
- Strong business acumen with the confidence making sound business decisions.
- Advanced technical skills in accounting/reporting software; Experience assisting with system implementations or data migrations is a plus.

Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
