Classification: Non-exempt, Full-Time

Department and Location: Analytical Chemistry; Stilwell, KS United States Reports to: Analytical Chemistry Team Lead, Analytical Manager or Designee Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Schedule: Schedule is determined based on business needs which may include weekends and/or holidays.

Mission:
To provide competitive, independent, investigative research and product development in: crop production; crop protection; food quality; environmental preservation, product stewardship, genetics and seeds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for properly documenting and moving Residue Samples between laboratories.
  • Responsible for following directions, verbal and written instructions, for properly weighing the amount of residue sample into the appropriately labeled container.
  • Responsible for entering all data accurately onto the sample preparation sheets.
  • Responsible for daily balance verifications to ensure proper functioning.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate and well documented records for all projects assigned.
  • Capable of producing the daily sample throughput after the required training period.
  • Capable of multi-tasking several projects at the same time.
  • Responsible for assisting with maintaining a clean work environment that may involve cleaning labware, sample containers, and general lab cleanliness.
  • Assist team members with other duties required of the supervisory staff such as assisting the Sample Management team.
  • Responsible for keeping all equipment in good working order and initiating proper cleaning of the equipment.
  • Ensure laboratory supplies are in stock, and notify personnel placing the orders when stock is low.
  • Follow instructions provided by supervisory staff.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor, or lab designee.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate and/or GED, required.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written direction in order to perform basic laboratory tasks; must be able to accurately document tasks per Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP”)'s.
  • Able to work in highly regulated, high pace environment.
  • Must be able to lift/move greater than or equal to fifty (50) to sixty (60) pounds with proper ergonomics and use of assistance as needed (e.g. other people, carts, pallet jack, etc...)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English fluently, or with necessary assistance, while performing the job duties which require this ability.

Physical Demands:

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms – overhead and other.
  • Able to work in highly regulated, high pace environment.
  • Must be able to walk, stand 50% to 80% of the time, squat, bend, kneel, climb, push, pull, use hands; reach with hands and arms overhead; speak and hear effectively in team and/or one-on-one conversations.
  • For Sample Management: Must be able to climb ladders, lift/move up to fifty (50) pounds with proper ergonomics and use of assistance as needed (e.g., other people, carts, pallet jack, etc...).

Work Environment:

  • Office setting in a temperature controlled environment.
  • Exposure to freezer conditions while retrieving and or storing residue samples.
  • Exposure to outdoors in extreme conditions.
  • Some exposure to chemicals or hazardous waste materials handled or present.
  • Interaction with employees and visitors.
