Job Description
Position Summary: This position is responsible for providing technical support throughout the sales process for the purpose of reviewing, assessing and determining the technical requirements that meet the objectives of the customer application and define the best possible solution from Syntegon.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a technical liaison between sales, engineering and our customers.
- Review incoming leads to assist in making bid/no bid decisions based upon technical and commercial criteria.
- Collaborate with the customer, Syntegon sales, Syntegon engineering and third party suppliers to understand the requirements of the application for the purpose of conceptualizing, defining, and developing complete technical proposals and quotation packages for custom packaging solutions.
- Prepare cost estimates based on application requirements.
- Ensure clean order entry by properly documenting project requirements and agreed specifications to protect profit targets and manage customer expectations.
- Guide, coach and mentor team members by facilitating departmental and one-on-one training sessions to build core technical competencies pertaining to machine operating philosophies. Provide insight for technical correspondence requirements needed for effective communications and technical reviews between the sales team and its internal and external customers.
- Engage other Syntegon entities during the proposal process for the purpose of defining system requirements through collaborative assessment and evaluation.
- Develop and facilitate new process and quoting tools to be used within sales, engineering and project management.
- Develop and provide technical data to the internal and external sales teams to enhance their knowledge of product line functionality, capabilities and other technical improvements.
- Monitor new products, trends or changes in technology that have potential to impact our machines and serve as a conduit for bringing that information to product line management, engineering management and the engineering R&D team.
- Provide technical insights for future machine developments.
- Develop and maintain technical sales aids such as product line specification documents and electrical/mechanical design specifications for PAUD portfolio machines.
- Develop and maintain Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS) and Hardware Design Specification (HDS) documents for the medical device industry.
- Serve with other department managers to facilitate relationships across departments in order to achieve company goals and objectives.
- May travel up to 20% of the time domestically and/or internationally.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Automation/Controls)
- Must have 8 years of experience working in the Automated Packaging Industry or other related capital equipment manufacturer.
- Must have 5 years of technical sales support, preferably in automated packaging equipment.
- Must have 8 years of designing system and/or defining system integration requirements for medium to large-scale customer applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous technical sales experience.
- Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to be an effective presenter. Ability to explain complex concepts

The expected compensation range for this position is between $120,000. to $145,000. based on a full-time schedule.
Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary bonus (if applicable) benefits.
