This position is responsible for ensuring all materials received at Sypris Electronics meet the required drawings, specifications, and quality standards for space product applications before acceptance into the warehouse. The Receiving Inspector plays a critical role in supporting the reliability and compliance of materials used in mission-critical systems.

Principle Activities:
- Perform thorough inspections of incoming materials in accordance with Receiving Inspection guidelines, engineering drawings, quality codes, and purchase orders.
- Verify certifications, test results, and compliance with aerospace and space standards, including IPC-A-610 and NASA-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality personnel to resolve discrepancies and determine material acceptability.
- Document inspection results accurately, including non-conformance reports, as required.
- Generate and maintain all necessary records and documentation for quality assurance and compliance audits.
- Execute all required system entries and transactions in ERP system (PLEX).
- Utilize precision measuring tools such as digital multimeters, calipers, and gauges to validate material specifications.
- Adhere to internal procedures for handling moisture-sensitive devices (MSDs), electrostatic discharge (ESD Class 0) protection, and customer-specific requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall quality initiatives.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience in inspecting materials or working in electronic manufacturing services, preferably in aerospace or defense industries.
- Proficiency in basic electronics and component identification.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic quality databases.
- Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and purchase orders.
- Competence in using measurement tools such as digital multimeters, calipers, height gauges, etc.
- Intermediate GD&T comprehension per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
- Knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 and associated documentation.
- Experience with automated multi-axis CMM setup, fixturing, and operation.
Physical and Working Conditions:
- May occasionally lift and move materials up to 35 pounds.
- Must have corrected 20/20 vision and the ability to accurately distinguish colors to perform detailed inspections.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting while performing detailed inspections or data entry.
- Work is conducted in a production environment, which may involve exposure to moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and standard manufacturing activities.
- Regular interdepartmental and external communication is necessary to address quality concerns and ensure compliance.
- Proper safety gear, such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection, will be provided and must be worn as required.
