Lead Teaching Assistants (LTA) will serve as the point person for the Teaching Assistants in their school. They will serve as the mentor for new teaching assistants in their school and provide leadership and support to all teaching assistants in their school. The LTA will facilitate Professional Learning Communities on a consistent basis and establish a sense of community and collaboration between veteran teaching assistants, new teaching assistants and school staff in collaboration with district staff.

Stipend: $2,000 a year.

Duties:
- Lead building wide PLCs for Unit 8 members
- Facilitating district created professional development.
- Enroll in and complete professional development to enhance your skills and demonstrate a growth mindset.
- Serve as a point person for teaching assistants in your building.
- Mentor teaching assistants as assigned
- Maintain clear, consistent communication between teaching assistants at your school and assigned Central Office staff.
- Attend a monthly 2 hour meeting or PD as scheduled
Specific qualifications for lead teaching assistants.
- New York State Certified teaching assistant with a minimum of 3 years of experience
- Successfully completed TCIS training
- Demonstrate effective relationships with people who have differing cultural backgrounds and/or personal characteristics, including race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or economic differences. Preference given for experience working successfully with those of similar demographics to the desired school placement.
- Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)
- Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for hire.
