Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated, hard-working and reliable individual to join our team as a General Laborer/Thrower in our Utica, NY, location.
Syracuse Haulers is a full-line waste removal company locally owned and operated who is dedicated and designed to build successful partnerships using our superior customer service. We are very proud of our select staff and are looking for an experienced, team-oriented individual to join our growing team!
As a General Laborer/Thrower, you will be required to collect refuse, yard waste, and/or recycling from Residential Customers in an efficient and timely manner. This will involve emptying the materials into a refuse truck in a safe, effective, and environmentally friendly manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Follow safe operating practices (3 points of contact)
· Clean up collection areas and accidental waste spills, and ensure that customers’ emptied waste containers are replaced according to Company policy
· Tag trash or recycling containers to inform customers of problems such as excess garbage or inclusion of items not permitted to be collected
· Constantly dismount refuse truck to collect refuse and remount truck to ride to the next collection point and/or walk to the next stop
· Operate the truck’s compactor using the levers / knobs that control the device
· Operate semi-automatic hoisting devices that raise the refuse carts and dump contents into the openings in the truck bodies
· Report any safety or customer-service related issues to the truck driver and/or supervisor immediately
· Dispose of waste correctly, and ensure there is no garbage left at the residence or on the street
Qualifications and Skills:
· Eligible to work in the U.S
· Ability to understand and follow all safety procedures
· Ability to courteously interact with customers, co-workers and supervision
· Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
· Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
