Job Description

Coordinate the planning and implementation of comprehensive development programs with the goal of securing annual and special gifts from corporations, foundations, governmental agencies, authors, and other private citizens.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.

This position is a part-time position.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates with prior experience in molecular biology or tissue culture are highly desirable.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Must have strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain an accurate record of experimental procedures and results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory and procure laboratory supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure timely procurement to maintain uninterrupted research activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and manage vendor relationships.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents and solutions. Accurately prepare and label reagents, buffers, and solutions according to protocols to support research activities, ensuring consistency and reproducibility.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. Perform routine maintenance and calibration, coordinate external service for annual calibration or repairs, and maintain equipment logs.
  • Manage laboratory waste disposal. Oversee the proper segregation, storage, and disposal of laboratory waste, including hazardous materials, in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Train lab members on waste management procedures.
  • Train and onboard new lab members.
  • Provide training on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and the proper use of laboratory equipment.
  • Offer ongoing support and serve as a point of contact for operational troubleshooting.
