Job Description
The Marketing Technology Manager leads strategic technology initiatives within Syracuse University’s Division of Marketing, managing critical aspects of technology and process operations. This position coordinates complex enterprise technology implementations, security programs, and cross-functional projects while serving as a key liaison with departmental teams within the division of marketing and across the university.

The role is responsible for overseeing a team to support divisional marketing and operational technology services. Primary duties include application administration, change management, technical documentation, stakeholder communication, and operational process improvement. This position requires experience in technology operations, enterprise systems, and project management, with the ability to work effectively across functional teams and diverse technical environments.

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Six (6) plus years of experience in information technology, marketing operations and/or project management with demonstrated success of leading complex technical projects and team management.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading technology teams.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Adobe Workfront, Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar software.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and standardize project management tools and processes.
  • Understanding of enterprise productivity suites, identity management, and security frameworks.
  • Understanding of development and CI/CD workflows and tools like GitHub
  • Knowledge in cloud infrastructure, system architecture, and service management methodologies.
  • Expertise in adopting emerging technologies and digital platforms to optimize various processes.
  • Excellence in cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with awareness for broad technology skillset and adoption.
  • Ability to translate technical challenges into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking skills with ability to identify issues, provide solutions, and build stakeholder consensus.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and optimize productivity environments (Adobe Workfront & Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365, etc) including platform administration, user transitions, and cross-platform integrations to ensure seamless collaboration and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with technical teams across Syracuse University to collaborate on best practice of enterprise systems like Microsoft’s Office 365, Azure, Entra, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Assess, review, and coordinate the rollout of digital tools (cloud-based, desktop, etc.) for use within Marketing, as well as, across Syracuse University, including cybersecurity review, data responsibility, technical feasibility, integration with enterprise and web systems, and more.
  • Review, document and oversee service management, including incident management, change management, and service level agreements (SLAs) across the division.
  • Assist in the management of technical debt through strategic planning and systematic modernization efforts.
  • Provide assessments and recommendations for process and technology of workflow management use cases.
  • Coordinate IT management and support efforts with central ITS, oversee equipment procurement processes and technology hardware deployments.
  • Implement and manage change management processes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to systems and divisional operations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and partners, making product progress information readily accessible in SharePoint and addressing concerns about upcoming changes.
  • Develop comprehensive guidance, resources, and tutorials, and maintain up-to-date and accessible documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
