Job Description
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is looking for an individual to teach COM 300.1/600.1 Fashion, Media, & Advocacy in Practice on Tuesdays 5:00pm – 7:45pm during the Fall 2025 semester. (3 credits)
Course Description: Teach a mixed undergraduate/graduate course on inclusive fashion in both theory and practice.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Applicants should have substantial professional journalism experience.
  • Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
  • Developing a syllabus.
  • Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
  • Preparing for classes.
  • Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
  • Grading student assignments and examinations for the course in a timely manner and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University Rules.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to instruct the class in the assigned classroom on the days it is designated to meet.
  • Ability to hold office hours on campus.
  • Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.

Tools/Equipment
Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may
include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
