Job Description

The Syracuse University Office of Athletic Communications is looking to hire two assistants to fulfill a 10-month commitment beginning in July of 2025. The successful candidates will possess a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and the long-term goal of working in the athletic communications profession.

The paid assistant positions begin July 2025 and end May 2026. They include a housing option.

Education and Experience

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have work experience in a related field.

Skills and Knowledge

  • The position requires strong writing skills, in addition to experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere, NCAA Live Stats, Stat Crew and all social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the primary contacts for assigned Olympic sports and secondary contacts for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse.
  • Creating content (photography, videography, and graphics) for social media accounts.
  • Managing social media accounts and website (Cuse.com) content creation and management.
  • Providing media training for coaches and student-athletes.
  • Serving as a liaison with local and national media.
  • Assisting with supervision of student staff.
  • Travelling with assigned teams.
  • Recording statistics and maintaining archives.
  • Providing information to the NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference and College Hockey America.

Syracuse’s 20-sport athletic program is affiliated with NCAA Division I and the Atlantic Coast Conference.
