Job Description

The Temporary Food Service Employee – Production Kitchen will prepare food for various catered functions such as dinner, luncheons, banquets, and receptions.

Education and Experience

  • Advanced knowledge of cooking techniques and procedures equivalent to 1-2 years of formal food service training or equivalent work experience is necessary.
  • The ability to read, write, count, and follow instructions.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Exercise some judgment to follow recipes and general instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Use judgment to determine quantity of food prepared and time schedule so that all items are ready for serving on schedule.
  • Observe safety and health regulations and maintain highest standards of sanitation and customer service.
  • Prepare food for various catered functions such as dinner, luncheons, banquets, and receptions.
  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of ordinary and fancy foods including all kinds of meat, fowl, seafood, soups, gravies, salads, fruits, vegetables, desserts, etc. for small functions and assist head cook for large functions. Prepare and cook meat, vegetables, gravy, meatballs. Slice and trim meat, bone turkey, slice cheese and cold cuts.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, bending, stooping, walking, daily lifting of items that weigh 15-50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work with dust, fumes, and solvents daily.
  • Must be able to work in high heat areas.

Tools/Equipment

  • Operate a variety of equipment including food slicer, grill, deep fryer, convection oven, steamer, dish washer, deck ovens, mixer, steam kettle, tilt brazier, buffalo chopper, charcoal broiler, truck, etc.
