Position Overview
Syrian American Alliance for Peace and Prosperity is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operations Coordinator to support the Executive Director in managing the organization’s daily operations, advocacy efforts, and policy initiatives. This role requires strong administrative skills, an understanding of advocacy work in Washington, D.C., and the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently. Additionally, the Operations Coordinator will play a key role in building connections and networking with community members and potential donors, as well as securing financial commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation.
- Assist with policy research, congressional meetings, and advocacy initiatives to advance SAAPP’s mission.
- Coordinate nonprofit operations, including board engagement, fundraising efforts, and member relations.
- Manage external communications, draft reports, and facilitate outreach with policymakers and stakeholders.
- Organize policy briefings, public events, and strategic discussions with decision-makers.
- Build relationships and network with community members, donors, and stakeholders to strengthen engagement and fundraising efforts.
- Pursue financial commitments from donors and track fundraising progress.
- Assist in planning and executing events—both virtual and in-person—including logistical arrangements for travel, hotels, food, and transportation.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in administrative support, nonprofit operations, advocacy, or policy work.
- Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain relationships with policymakers, congressional staff, donors, and key stakeholders.
- Fundraising & Grants: Experience assisting with donor relations, fundraising campaigns, and grant writing is a plus.
- Event Coordination: Ability to support event planning and logistics, including policy briefings, roundtables, grassroots mobilization efforts, and travel arrangements.
- Language: Proficiency in Arabic is a plus but not required.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, public policy, or a related field is preferred but not required.
