The EMS Captain (Extrication/Maintenance Lead) is one of three EMS captain positions that assist the Ambulance Manager with oversight of the operations, equipment, and personnel of the Syringa Ambulance.
The Extrication and Maintenance Lead EMS Captain coordinates the Extrication Team and coordinates extrication training with the Training Captain. They provide the Ambulance Manager with recommendations on extrication tools and training to meet local and State certification requirements. They coordinates the maintenance of vehicles and capital equipment (including radios) with the Facilities Manager and other hospital departments or personnel as needed. They make recommendations for annual budget for extrication and maintenance by May of each year. The Extrication/Maintenance Lead EMS Captain makes recommendations for adding personnel to the Extrication Team
Captains serve as a point of contact for EMS Independent Contractors and Syringa employed EMTs, field concerns, provide on the job training and monitor compliance with the EMS Independent Contractor contracts. Captains assist the Ambulance Manager with day to day duties to keep Syringa Hospital Ambulance ready and equipped to respond to calls for service and personnel trained and supervised in EMS response.
