The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist as outlined by the State of Idaho regulations. Adheres to professional standards and ethics as stated in the Physical Therapy Practice Act. Provides therapy treatment, including wound care, in inpatient and outpatient setting as well as other practice environments as directed.
Essential Job Functions
· Provides quality patient care according to the plan of care developed by the physical therapist.
· Documents patient care as outlined in physical therapy policy and according to generally accepted standards of care, in a timely manner as outlined in the department policy or standards.
· Meets regularly with the supervising therapist as required by regulations. Will make the therapist aware of any patient care issues and/or if patient need to be reevaluated.
· Participates in community relations activities as needed. Actively engages with discharge planning and other departments as needed to provide patient care.
· Meets all continuing education requirements as dictated by the licensing board.
· Assures quality patient care by demonstrating competency and maintaining required certification and continuing education.
· Participates in mandatory training.
· Other duties as assigned.
