Overview: As a Class A CDL Delivery Truck Driver at Sysco, you will be responsible for safely transporting products from the warehouse to customer locations. This involves ensuring timely deliveries and proper unloading of products while complying with all safety protocols. Additionally, you must maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with customers and management, and possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. The role requires a strong focus on service and safety in a physically demanding environment.
As a Class A CDL Delivery Truck Driver, your key responsibilities include safely transporting product from the warehouse to the customer location, ensuring product is delivered on a timely basis, and unloading product by hand or using hand carts down ramps, stairs, or docks. You will also be responsible for picking up, loading, and unloading damaged goods and customer returns, and transporting products back to the SYGMA warehouse. Furthermore, you will ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis, and that all invoices are accurate and turned in daily. Any damages or shortages must be reported promptly.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a High School diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus one year of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred. Completion of a tractor-trailer driving school will be accepted instead of, or in addition to a high school diploma. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is also required, as well as the ability to drive a 3-axle tractor, 45' - 48' trailer, straight truck, onboard computer, keypad, and two-wheel hand cart. Good communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to handle hazardous materials and food and restaurant items that are frozen, dry, and refrigerated are also essential for success in this role.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The associate is frequently required to lift, push, or move product that weighs up to 50 pounds by hand and push/pull up to 350 pounds of product with a two-wheeled hand cart down a ramp and into the customer's storage areas; climb in and out of a tractor and trailer; reach to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart; bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold, and/or humid conditions; and moving mechanical parts may be required to work in confined spaces. The associate usually works an overnight schedule, including weekends, holidays, overtime, on-call, and starting at various times, in order to successfully meet customers' needs.
