Job Summary
To ensure the safety and efficiency of fleet vehicles, perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime, and improve total fleet reliability.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned timeframes to maximize their lifespan.
- Conduct Annual Inspector Certifications, Brake Inspector Certifications, and other required certifications for all fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Carry out quality maintenance repairs to maintain the safety and reliability of all fleet vehicles.
- Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report issues promptly and efficiently.
- Develop expertise in Sysco computer programs and proficiency in electrical meter testing.
- Maintain knowledge of controls and electric systems, including DC distribution center low voltage.
- Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training or equivalent.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current and valid driver's license is mandatory.
Certifications and Licenses
- Annual Inspector Certification and Brake Inspector Certification are required.
- ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks are preferred but not required.
- 609 HVAC Certification is also desired.
Professional Skills
- Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers.
- Expert knowledge and skill in all vehicle systems and components.
- Moderate knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems.
- Moderate knowledge and skill in Preventive Maintenance Inspections and repair.
- Basic knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG).
- Basic computer skills and knowledge.
- Moderate knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA safety guidelines.
Work Environment
- The associate will work non-traditional business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
- The associate may be required to travel to other operating companies or the corporate office for training, business continuation, or other business needs.
