JOB PROFILE SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing complex data research and analysis to support business operations including creating data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may be applied to various areas of the business (e.g., Finance & Accounting, Supply Chain, Marketing/Advertising, etc.). Researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and manage Sysco's Data Analytics team responsible for creating analytical queries, obtaining, and analyzing large data sets, identify risks and coordinate with management to improve efficiency and deliver results to drive current and future strategies.
This position is responsible for overseeing team responsible for the development and performance of various data analytical queries to assist with controls design and monitoring as well as coordinating with outside departments to perform risk analysis and data analysis to help solve current business challenges across all business units within the Sysco enterprise. The individual will be responsible for managing the team responsible for developing analytical queries, identifying, and obtaining access to disparate systems and databases, gathering data to develop controls and assist with continuous monitoring procedures to ensure control process are in place.
Position scope includes, but is not limited to:
Managing and developing a data analytics team to design controls and enable other strategic initiatives for the Policies and Internal Controls department.
Communicating effectively with all levels of management any required processes and controls changes/enhancements to ensure financial and operational risk are appropriately mitigated.
Drive current and future control design and monitoring through analytical skills.
Coordinating with outside departments such as Business Technology and Finance to obtain access to current and new systems.
Detailed knowledge of IT systems and Infrastructure including data structures to develop new data analytics and monitoring processes and controls
Leverage technology to drive innovation in data insights delivery.
Leverage analytics to provide value-added results to management supporting the company's strategic goals.
Acting as a subject matter expert and coaching the Policy & Internal Controls Department in new systems and risks, and query use.
Mining data to assist in providing continuous monitoring of key financial and operational controls.
Improving operational efficiencies and effectiveness for the Finance Policies & Internal Controls Department
Ensuring all current projects conform to requirements of all areas, i.e., policies, procedures, workflow, etc.
Collaborating with various business and technology teams to better understand changes being planned or implemented providing guidance on updating processes and associated controls.
Serving as a subject matter technical resource to facilitate the design and development of various financial and operational controls and processes.
Budgeting, status reporting, and staff training, management and oversight for Data Analytics team and larger Finance Policies & Internal Controls team groups.
Providing training for both business & technology teams to help develop a process and control mindset.
Identifying areas of improvement and help drive future efforts to better streamline and standardize control processes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of at least two senior analyst and indirect supervision other Policies & Controls staff and Field Compliance Managers during assignments
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or Information Technology. CPA, CIA, or CISA designation is a plus but not required. Six to eight years of practical experience in data analytics and process design required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document reports and business correspondence concisely tailoring message to the intended audience as appropriate. Ability to effectively communicate with operating company management.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Must have advanced proficiency in PC-based data analysis tools such as AS400 Query, ACL, IDEA, and Alteryx. Must have strong detailed knowledge of various IT infrastructure, systems and databases including WorkdayAS400, UNIX, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SQL and DB2. Must possess strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities.

Sitting, standing, walking, talking on the phone, typing on the computer, lifting of luggage and audit materials (including laptop computer), bending, stooping etc. (when reviewing warehouse operations), approximately 25% travel by plane to locations across the U.S. and Canada.
