What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Maintenance Technician position at System Administrative Services Corporate?
SUMMARY
The Regional Maintenance Technician, under general supervision, will be responsible for assessing and correcting the defects in exterior and interior surface finishes including walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, trim, and other components of the physical plant. The Regional Maintenance Technician will also assist with general repairs and projects throughout the Health System.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Know and adhere to the established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies necessary for the preparation of surfaces and the application of coatings.
- Promptly report observed equipment or physical plant damage to the Regional Engineering and Safety Manager.
- Confirm that containers of hazardous chemicals are properly labeled and securely stored when not in use.
- Implement and follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and or working with equipment that could result in bodily injury.
- Follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
- Reports job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.
- Periodically check equipment for availability and proper working condition.
- Use tools, equipment and supplies in an efficient manner to avoid waste.
- Participate in the selection of items to become standards for the Health System.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to maintenance departments.
- Assist the Regional Engineering and Safety Manager with determining if equipment needs to be repaired or replaced.
- Participate in and develop on-the-job training programs for maintenance department personnel.
- Assist in standardizing the methods and products with which surface preparation and coating application should be performed.
- Review competence of maintenance department personnel regarding painting skills and recommend adjustments/corrections as required or that may become necessary so that touch up is correctly taken care of by Health Services maintenance associates.
- Consult with the Regional Engineering and Safety Manager to identify needed improvements to Health Services physical properties and to determine best solution.
- Assist Health Services in the development of project budgets.
- Monitor and work to contain project cost within the approved budget.
- Maintain a history of project costs.
- Possess the ability to participate in the planning and carrying out of projects.
- Possess the ability to work independently and make decisions as needed.
- Maintain record of organization vehicle mileage and maintenance.
- Attend and participate in mandatory in-services and continuing education classes to enhance position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least five (5) years of experience in facility maintenance and/or a professional painter in a commercial/industrial setting.
