DIRECTOR OF ECOMMERCE
Columbus, OH
ALTA IT Services is staffing a direct hire opening for a Director of E-Commerce to lead the online strategy and execution of a Columbus, OH-based distributor of consumer appliances and residential outdoor power equipment. The Director of E-Commerce will lead the company’s online presence, focusing on brand growth, channel development, and operational excellence. This role oversees an internal e-commerce agency that supports licensees with daily tasks across key platforms, ensuring consistent brand representation and performance.
Responsibilities include building and training the agency team, managing brand protection efforts, and driving strategic initiatives to identify new product and market opportunities. Staying current with e-commerce trends informs growth planning and channel expansion. The role also includes overseeing the digital re-launch of newly acquired brands.
Candidates local to the Columbus, OH area are strongly desired, but other locations will be considered, with at least 25% travel to Columbus and periodic travel for client/partner meetings. Up to 50% travel at peak times may be expected.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees daily operations and long-term strategy of Corporate Business & Design Center and newly acquired brands.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Protect and enhance the online presence of corporate and newly acquired brands
- Ensure consistent brand messaging, compliance, and visual standards across all digital touchpoints
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive e-commerce strategies for agency partners and core brands
- Interface with internal stakeholders and licensee partners to align on goals and directives
- Manage and grow an internal e-commerce operations team that supports licensees with daily operational needs
- Create and manage digital marketing initiatives to maximize efficiency and online business growth
- Identify new white space products and market opportunities on Amazon.com and other e-commerce channels
- Project revenue trends and provide forecasts to internal and external stakeholders
- Supervise supply chain operations to ensure consistent inventory needs are met
- Oversee digital launches for new product opportunities
- Analyze performance metrics and KPIs to optimize campaigns, product visibility, and conversion rates
- Collaborate with retail partners to support hybrid retail initiatives and omnichannel strategies
- Monitor and respond to evolving e-commerce trends, platform changes, and consumer behavior shifts
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of e-commerce fundamentals with a focus on Amazon and Shopify platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in financial analysis
- Excellent digital marketing/ PPC campaign management skills
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to lead discussions among large groups

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years of experience in a digital merchant/buyer role or a high-functioning sales lead position with a proven track record of success.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- This position requires periodic travel to client and partner meetings throughout the United States, as well as one week a month in Columbus, Ohio, if not located in the Columbus area. (Up to 50% travel at peak times)
SALARY: $140,000 to $150,000 range annually, plus bonus and benefits
