What are the responsibilities and job description for the Functional Engineer (Electrical) position at System One?
OVERVIEW: The Functional Engineer will act as a technical front face with the US customers for the definition and implementation of all Vehicle functionalities. Engaging Customer and tender/project development needs to help the Company to deliver a design that fulfills the Contract on time and within budget. Work together with HQ Engineering Team the tender/project/product activities to ensure the customer satisfaction and client targets.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
• To develop the functionality of the vehicle for the project/tender/product working closely with the US Engineering Team and the Engineering Department in the Company Headquarters.
• To verify and validate the vehicle functionality together with the US Engineering Team and the Engineering Department in the Company Headquarters.
• Plan and develop the engineering activities related to functional definition, verification and validation with the client engineering Team and the Engineering Department at HQ.
• Conduct a dialog with the client in coordination with the Engineering Team at HQ and TPMs, regarding the implementation of the Project in time and form.
• Support the impact assessment (time/cost/quality) of possible risks, opportunities and variations in the project.
• Maximize the use of standardized solutions for the different projects/tenders.
• Receive, analyze and provide first quick answers to the comments/questions received from customer.
• Technical management with the final customer: documentation exchange, requirements compliance, verification and validation process …
• Generate documentation for the design review of the train vehicle, and for the Homologation process.
• Complete de requirement management lifecycle: revision, implementation, traceability, verification & validation, closure.
• Define the validation process of the train vehicle: definition of test procedures, participation in tests.
• Participate/lead the projects and offers in order to achieve a complete functional integration of all the systems in the vehicle.
TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications Engineering
• Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in railway rolling stock functional definition, either new build or refurbishment
• Knowledge in the US Railway sector and Approval process
• Knowledge in worldwide standards related with railways will be favorably considered, such as but not limited to: EN45545, EN50155, EN61373, EN50128, EN50121

• Strong IT skills with Microsoft Suite, Excel, Word, Outlook, PPT, Microsoft Project.
• Being familiar with tools such as DOORs, CATIA, 3DExperience, TRELLO, and Program Planner
• Spanish will be very favorably considered
• Will be sited in client headquarters and will need to be available to travel along the US for the possible projects/tenders.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
• Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
• Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
• Shall comply with all client safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
• Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
• Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
• Shall attend all client required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
• Shall NOT operate any client equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so
