System One is seeking a I&C Design Engineer for a long-term contract assignment supporting our client onsite in Spring City, TN. This role is full time and offers a hybrid work model. Candidates will need to be onsite at the nuclear facility 1 week per month. Per diem available when applicable.
The I&C Design Engineer will support complex nuclear engineering projects through expert-level design, analysis, and consultation. This role involves developing and evaluating engineering plans, assessing the feasibility of proposed systems and equipment, and advising teams across various projects within commercial nuclear environments. The ideal candidate is a technically proficient engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a solid foundation in nuclear facility design and testing practices.
Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Development & Oversight: Create and review technical design plans for I&C systems, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory standards.

Feasibility Assessments: Evaluate the soundness and viability of proposed engineering tests, products, or equipment, especially in cases with limited data or where testing is necessary.

Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a senior-level technical advisor on I&C systems, offering insight into facility design, specialized equipment, or program-specific functions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and QA/QC teams to ensure successful execution of engineering deliverables.
Ideal Background

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Commercial Nuclear Experience: Demonstrated background supporting projects within regulated nuclear environments.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in I&C design, engineering analysis, or related roles.

Technical Acumen: Proven ability to evaluate, develop, and verify engineering solutions where data limitations require expert judgement and testing validation.
