System One is actively seeking a Laboratory Technician (Rotating Shift) on an 8 month contract position located in Pampa, TX.
Laboratory Technician Responsibilities:
- Performs routine test using laboratory devices
- Identifies and communicates any out of specification test results to company operations to help expedite corrective action
- Uses various equipment and apparatus required for testing raw materials and finished product
- Set up and operates testing equipment for new or special tests
- Keeps notes, enters data to database and/or spreadsheets
- Tabulates and enters test results in LIMS database
- Cleans and maintains testing equipment and work areas
- Maintains work area in compliance with safety rules and regulations
- Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements
- Calibrates testing equipment and performs routine maintenance as needed to ensure quality results
- Notifies laboratory leadman/supervisor of needed supplies
- Performs other duties as required and assumes additional responsibility as assigned
- Participates in continuous process improvement teams when needed
- Takes all questions, problems, grievances, etc., concerning the job, Department or Company to the immediate supervisor
- Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the company Facilities
- Supports the current ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard as applicable to the company Lab
- Must have a valid driver’s license as driving is routinely required
Laboratory Technician Requirements:
- Secondary education (High School); technical/vocational training a plus
- 2-year college/technical degree (preferred)
- 0-3 years of related experience depending on level of education and knowledge (1-3 years laboratory experience preferred)
- General lab testing knowledge and mathematical skills to solve problems encountered in job (Algebra, problem solving, etc.)
- Intermediate computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and Outlook applications including formatting, data entry, and written communication
- Must be willing to accept reasonable or appropriate changes in a rotating shift, and work at times with no supervision
- Must be willing to work overtime and/or possible call outs when needed for relief work
- Proficient English skills: writing and verbal and must be able to follow instruction and communicate clearly
- Be able to understand how quality affects the customer’s needs
- Collaborative attitude and inter-personal skills; willing to share information and resources with peers
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity in order to operate and perform basic service to laboratory equipment
- Ability to identify out-of-range results and note unusual patterns
- Quality and precision oriented
- Displays great care in observing and following testing protocols
- Ability to classify and organize data in a logical and orderly way as well as plan work to ensure timely completion of assignments
- Ability to lift heavy items and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs./ 22.7 kg
- 12 hours per shift, days and nights, 36/48 hours per week
Duration: 8 months
Location: Pampa. TX
Pay Rate: $22-24/hr
Rotating shift work. $2/hr more during night shift work
