This role is ideal for an individual with 1-2 years of experience in Linux administration, a CompTIA Security certification, and a Top Secret security clearance. The ideal candidate will support and maintain the organization's infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of Linux-based systems.
Linux System Administration:
- Manage and support the Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring systems are running efficiently and securely. Perform routine maintenance tasks including software updates, patches, and troubleshooting.
- Security Monitoring & Management:
- Ensure compliance with security standards, including implementing firewalls, configuring security settings, and applying patches. Monitor system logs and proactively identify vulnerabilities and security risks.
- Infrastructure Support:
- Provide day-to-day operational support for Linux servers, including monitoring system performance, backups, and applying necessary configurations for optimal performance. Assist in the deployment and management of servers and related applications.
- Incident Response & Troubleshooting:
- Investigate and resolve incidents, including system outages, hardware failures, and performance issues. Collaborate with the IT team to diagnose and fix issues quickly.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation on system configurations, processes, and procedures. Generate security and system performance reports as needed.
- Work closely with the senior Linux administrators and cross-functional teams to ensure system integration and best practices are followed. Provide technical support and guidance to other departments when necessary.
Education/Experience:
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration, including experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Proven understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services, including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
- Experience working with Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar.
- CompTIA Security certification (required).
- Top Secret security clearance (required).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Experience with server management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge of system monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware or Docker (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
