System One is seeking a highly skilled Operations Training Instructor to support the Natrium Demonstration Project (NDP) on a 12-month remote contract. Reporting directly to the Operations Training Manager, this role focuses on developing operations training programs and materials for licensed and non-licensed operators. The successful candidate will play a critical role in establishing training processes and procedures while coordinating with internal teams, project partners, regulators, and external organizations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operator training programs, processes, and procedures that comply with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and other applicable codes and requirements.
- Create and execute strategies for the initial accreditation of training programs.
- Utilize the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to design and develop high-quality curricula for licensed and non-licensed operators.
- Continuously update training programs to maintain instructional and technical accuracy in response to plant design modifications, procedure changes, and evolving plant processes.
- Actively participate in the Training Curriculum Review Committee to evaluate and enhance training effectiveness.
- Collaborate with operations management, emergency response teams, and other departments to optimize training programs.
- Develop and administer trainee examinations and evaluations across classroom, laboratory, on-the-job training (OJT), and simulator settings.
- Establish processes for training performance evaluations, counseling, and individualized learning programs.
- Integrate lessons learned from INPO reports, NRC directives, design changes, regulatory updates, and training effectiveness reviews into training materials.
- Support NRC, INPO, and internal management audits, providing responses to findings as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of plant operations, simulation software, and training methodologies to ensure high-quality instruction.
- Oversee the collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports.
- Assist the Operations Training Manager in setting departmental goals, budgeting, and overseeing assigned projects.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Associate’s degree in science or engineering.
- 4 years of experience in commercial nuclear power plant operator training.
- 2 years as a simulator instructor.
- Prior SRO/RO license holder or 4 years of experience with SRO certification.
- Expertise in training program analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and modification.
- Proficiency with plant simulation software.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to training excellence.
- High integrity, professionalism, and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Understanding of regulatory impacts on operations and training.
- Adaptability to evolving plant design, procedural changes, and scheduling challenges during the design, construction, and commissioning of a new nuclear power plant.
