Radiation Protection Training Instructor – 12-Month Onsite Contract (Kemmerer, WY)
System One is seeking a Radiation Protection Training Instructor to support the Natrium Demonstration Project (NDP) on a 12-month onsite contract in Kemmerer, WY. This role reports directly to the M&T Training Manager and is responsible for developing training programs, materials, and processes for maintenance and technical personnel. The ideal candidate will have a background in Radiation Protection, as well as experience in nuclear maintenance and technical training.
Responsibilities:
- Develop M&T training programs, processes, and procedures in compliance with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and other regulatory requirements.
- Create and execute a strategy for training program initial accreditation.
- Utilize the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to design and develop high-quality training curricula.
- Update training programs to maintain instructional and technical accuracy based on plant design modifications, procedure changes, and process updates.
- Actively participate in the Training Curriculum Review Committee to assess and enhance training effectiveness.
- Collaborate with management, emergency response teams, and other departments to develop and improve training programs.
- Prepare and administer trainee examinations and evaluations across classroom, laboratory, on-the-job training (OJT), and simulator environments.
- Establish processes for training performance evaluations, counseling sessions, and individualized learning programs.
- Integrate information from INPO reports, NRC bulletins, design changes, and regulatory updates into training materials.
- Support NRC, INPO, and internal audits, preparing responses to findings as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of plant design, operations, and radiation protection procedures to ensure high-quality training.
- Oversee the collection and maintenance of auditable training records.
- Assist Training Management in setting department goals and budget estimates.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- 2 years of experience in a commercial nuclear power plant within a maintenance or technical discipline.
- 4 years of military nuclear experience (or equivalent combination of experience and academic degrees).
- Strong background in Radiation Protection.
- Expertise in training program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to training excellence.
- Strong integrity, teamwork, and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to adapt to changing plant designs, procedures, and schedules associated with the design, construction, and commissioning of a new nuclear power plant.
