This position shall assist the Associate Collection Counsel (ACC) in executing the day-to-day legal collection activities of West Virginia United Health System (WVUHS) and its affiliated entities. This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of the collection department. This role will correspond with patients and clients to resolve patient liability and must adhere to all applicable statutes, rules and regulations including state and federal versions of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Projects a mature problem-solving attitude while dealing with interpersonal conflict, dissatisfied patients and time constraints. Has and uses excellent customer service, written and oral communication skills.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High school degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
1. One year experience as a cashier/bookkeeper.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Associates degree in business/office management, secretarial sciences, or related legal field is preferred.

1. Extensive bookkeeping experience

1. Process payments received by the collection department.
2. Mail payment reports to corresponding hospital.
3. Prepare final balance letters to patients and employers.
4. Handling direct payment reports for all hospitals.
5. Updating action codes in collection software.
6. Providing receipts to patients when requested.
7. Working the payment lists and sending payment reminders when necessary.
8. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
9. Contacts employers to inquire about balance discrepancies when necessary.
10. Provides payment updates to corresponding hospital if a breakdown is necessary.
11. Communicates with clients regarding balances, insurance payments and adjustments on accounts.
