The MTSS Specialist is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the Executive Director of Student Services, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Primary Function: Expands professional knowledge of the MTSS/RTI process to stay informed about best practices. Ability to provide content specific professional development in varied content areas and intervention segments. Ability to coach peers for improvement of practices in instructional delivery, data interpretation, and intervention selection, in collaboration with school administration, school based MTSS/RTI teams, and district curriculum team. Knowledge of MTSS process and ability to develop, lead, implement, monitor, and collaborate with other educators in the schoolwide integration of MTSS/RTI to support the whole child and promote intellectual, social, and physical growth in all students identified for intervention need. Follow federal, state, and district guidelines in accordance with legislation related to the MTSS/RTI process. Proficiency with data analysis and tools for data management. Proficiency required in communicating with key stakeholders and working to support both district and school MTSS/RTI teams. |

Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia level 4 certification |
Minimum of five (5) successful years as an educator required. |
Demonstrated experience in effective and rigorous instruction and intervention, to include Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention |
Demonstrated experience with leading professional development and/or program implementation |
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:

Expands professional knowledge of the MTSS/RTI process to stay informed about best practices |

Serves as a member of the district and school based MTSS teams and attends regularly scheduled meetings |
|
Collaborates regularly with district curriculum coordinators to ensure alignment between rigorous, effective Tier 1 instruction and interventions |
|
Supports universal screening processes to identify students in need of support for remediation or acceleration |
|
Supports school based MTSS teams in development and successful implementation of their MTSS plans, processes and procedures, for fidelity |
|
Assists school leadership with planning and organizing data analysis sessions to evaluate literacy, math, and behavior intervention effectiveness |
|
Reviews and analyzes student data to identify students in need of support for remediation or acceleration |
|
Identifies research-based interventions for students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 support |
|
Supports the implementation of academic and behavioral interventions for students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 as needed |
|
Supports and conducts progress monitoring of students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 as needed |
|
Provides staff with coaching and support related to interventions, literacy by design initiatives, and math initiatives of the district as related to MTSS |

Develops and delivers relevant professional learning to staff |
