Job Summary:
The Teacher - Elementary Gifted is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Primary Function: Ability to provide instruction, assessing and encouraging student progress. Ability to manage the learning environment, complying with state and district level regulations and policies. |

Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Level 4 certificate or higher in assigned teaching field with gifted endorsement |
Minimum five (5) year teaching experience |
Demonstrated leadership in the area of gifted education |
Board base of curriculum knowledge and experience in gifted education |
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:

Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance |
|
Provide content development |
|
Assists Gifted Coordinator with coordination and verification of state funding counts |
|
Assist Gifted Coordinator with eligibility process for potential gifted students |
|
Monitor testing procedures / timelines for all gifted students |
|
Serves as a liaison between the Gifted education teachers and the Gifted Coordinator |
|
Assists Gifted Coordinator with the end of year procedures for Gifted teachers |
|
Demonstrates effective teaching strategies and intervention for Gifted students |
|
Provides direct support for Gifted teachers |
|
Mentor teachers |
|
Helps Gifted teachers integrate the use of technology and multi-media in the classroom |
|
Possess and maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credentials as may be required for this position |
|
Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner |
|
Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities |
|
Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures |
|
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies |
|
Demonstrates the ability to problem solve and diffuse difficult situations |
|
Assists Gifted coordinator with scheduling and caseloads for Gifted teachers |
|
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee |
