Under the direction of the Engineering Manager-Fans, you will primarily be responsible for new product development provide ventilation solutions that improve health and productivity in an energy-efficient and sustainable manner. This role is perfect for an individual with a passion and ability for visualizing, designing, and creating. Working Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and forming is a valuable attribute for Design Engineers as this strength promotes creativity and is complementary to product design tasks while contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Using 3D modelling software to design components meeting Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) requirements.
- Participate cross functionally with R&D team to conceptually design a product that meets project deliverables (product performance, safety, quality, serviceability, customer expectations, etc.).
- Lead cross functional team meetings to identify fabrication and manufacturing needs (tools, machinery, automation equipment, etc.).
- Work with Project Manager on establishing timelines related to product design activities.
- Creates component drawings, specifications (proper tolerances), and assembly work instructions.
- Responsible for planning and coordinating with the Engineering team to execute product launch tasks (Bill of Materials, labeling, packaging, website content, etc.).
- Lead team in Engineering Pilot Run activities.
- Working knowledge of fabrication (CNC) file types (.DXF, .GEO, etc.).
- Process and Workflow Design.
- Design Jigs and Fixtures for assembly.
- Participate in training production line employees on implemented optimizations.
- Continuous Improvement Processes; CIP Identifying waste in processes and proposing new ideas following industry philosophies; Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPS (Toyota Production System), etc.
- Assist in resolving technical manufacturing and product design issues.
Skills, Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering, or equivalent.
- Mechanically minded, Electrical or Electronics background preferred.
- Excellent Leadership and Teamwork.
- Effective communicator (written and verbally).
- Self-starter that demonstrates a sense of urgency to achieve important goals.
- Open minded, ability to adapt to change.
- Team-oriented - develops “win-win” strategies.
- 4 years of professional design using parametric modelling software (Experience in PTC Creo preferred, SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion, etc. is sufficient).
- Working knowledge of CNC equipment and file compatibilities (.DXF, G-code, etc.).
- Working knowledge of additive manufacturing (3D printing).
- Some knowledge of technical product drawing and typical GD&T tolerance requirements.
- Stress and finite element analysis skills are preferred, not required.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication methods preferred.
- Creo Professional Certification Programs (Associate, Sheetmetal, Modelling, etc.).

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk/computer screen
- Moderate physical effort – able to lift between 10 and 15lbs at times
