JOB SUMMARY:
The Ultrasound Technologist I is fully competent to perform all diagnostic procedures for the

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of the job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Fully competent to perform all procedures within the Ultrasound Section of the Radiology Department
- Fully competent in the technical operations of all equipment in this section.
- Assesses the patient, reviews the orders/ chart as appropriate confirming the reason for exam. Ensures pertinent patient symptoms and clinical history are documented and a signed consent form is present if needed.
- Prepares the patient for the procedure, answers any patients questions and effectively communicates with the supervising radiologist for special instructions and/or questions regarding exam protocol.
- Responsible for the prompt completion and accurate recording of exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to study by the radiologist.
- Provides a safe environment to include, but not limited to, infection control guidelines, universal precautions and patient safety goals.
- Monitors the timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals, striving for continuous quality improvement. Performs QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation.
- Actively participates in the clinical education of student sonographers.
- Actively participates in department’s Performance Improvement Projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
- Graduate of an AMA approved Sonography program. ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) preferred.
- New graduates may apply that are registered or registry eligible.
- New graduates that are registry eligible must be registered by either ARDMS or ARRT (Sonography) within 12 months of their hire date.
- Maintain current AHA CPR certification through Cape Fear Valley Training and Development department.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year minimal experienced required.

- Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in performing diagnostic and vascular sonography.

Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
