Job Title: Systems Administrator
Location: Providence, RI
Duration: 12 Months
Position Overview
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the provisioning, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the Office's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and related systems. This role focuses on ensuring operational excellence, system integrity, and adherence to best practices to support the Office's mission.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration
- Oversee and maintain cloud-based and on-premises client software.
- Manage infrastructure servers and ensure efficient remote device management.
- Install, configure, and rebuild servers and associated hardware/peripherals.
- Apply operating system patches, upgrades, and administrative tool updates.
- Perform disaster recovery operations and regular data backups.
- Conduct daily system monitoring and performance tuning, ensuring hardware, server resources, and key processes are functioning optimally.
- Process Improvement & Documentation
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Research and recommend innovative, automated approaches for system tasks.
- Create detailed procedures, troubleshooting documentation, and team knowledge base contributions.
- User Support & Training
- Provide remote support to end users/customers, including off-hours support as needed.
- Manage user accounts, including creation, modification, and deletion.
- Cross-train team members on operational tasks.
- Technical Expertise
- Maintain and monitor cloud and local software configurations.
- Ensure adherence to security best practices, including virus protection and compliance standards.
- Handle infrastructure components like storage, networking, databases, and devices (desktops, laptops, servers, printers, etc.).
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical operations.
Preferred Skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with the following:
- OSI Layer Model
- Storage, Backup, and Recovery tools
- Cisco technologies
- Microsoft Office 365 and Exchange
- Adobe Acrobat DC
- Virus protection and security protocols
- Networking and basic wiring
- Experience with hardware/software systems: desktops, laptops, servers, printers, telephony, and databases.
