Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Automation Engineer to plan, direct, and coordinate automation engineering systems, including manufacturing and processing equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software and hardware changes to existing automated systems, ensuring optimal performance, compliance, and efficiency. This role is crucial in maintaining and improving automation processes within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and execute automation engineering projects related to manufacturing and processing equipment.
- Design, develop, and implement software/hardware modifications to enhance existing automated systems.
- Maintain and optimize process control systems to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP guidelines, FDA regulations, and pharmaceutical safety standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and maintenance, to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical system blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Apply safety principles and best practices in operating and maintaining automation systems.
- Utilize robotics, CNC programming, and tooling design to improve automation processes.
- Develop preventive maintenance plans for automation and process control systems.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to manufacturing and maintenance teams.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related field).
- 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing and automation engineering, preferably within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with process control systems—maintenance, troubleshooting, and design.
- Strong knowledge of industrial pharmaceutical machinery, robotics, CNC programming, tooling design, and CAM programming is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with cGMP guidelines, FDA regulations, and safety practices in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Strong technical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to manufacturing needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SCADA, PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial automation software.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
