Food Scientist / Microbiology Technician (Nutrition/Dietetics) (3rd Shift)

Two 3rd shift positions available.

Sunday-Wednesday 10pm - 8:30am Wednesday-Saturday 6pm-4:30am

Summary

• Will prepare laboratory media/solutions, operate auto clave, PH solutions, plate/enumerate microbes, fill out data reports and place results on spreadsheet using Lotus.
• Data analysis and will be responsible for communicating data results.
• Must be able to do calculations.
• Must be very alert, conscientious.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and have good analytical skills, and flexible to being trained.

Will assist a daily team of Technicians by collecting samples, test in-process samples, and finished samples.

• Media making
• Daily water collecting and testing.
• Will make and record observations.
• Preform simple calculations.
• Help in support functions; stocking and distributing supplies, collecting, washing, and storing glassware.
• Other tasks as needed.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to multitask
• Aseptic technique
• Microbiology background
• Previous lab experience

Education:

• Associate degree with at least 2 years lab experience (experience can be college lab work).
• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or Food Science straight from college.
• Manager will consider candidates graduating soon.

Additional:

• 0-2 years relevant experience.
• Willing to take a recent grad or soon to graduate.
• Master’s degree is overqualified.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
