Quality Resident Inspector Job Description
I. General Summary:
Quality Resident Inspector - This is an hourly (non-exempt) position reporting to the Quality Engineers and/or Manager at Systems Automotive Interiors Alabama (SAIA). SAIA is a Tier 1 seat supplier to Mazda Toyota Manufacturing. To learn more about SAIA, visit our website at www.sai-al.com.
The inspector is responsible for the product’s quality assuring that product meet customer specification. The Inspector will train at SAIA, but primarily report to Mazda Toyota Manufacturing daily once initial training is complete.
This position works second shift - 7 pm to 3:45 am or until production number has been met. This is a fixed schedule; no rotations.
II. Essential Job Function:
- Function as liaison, primary window person keeping lines of communication open between SAIA and the Customer.
- Support trouble shooting activities of quality issues during root cause analysis problem solving activity.
- Conduct receiving part inspection of product within Receiving Inspection as allowed.
- Inspects seats visually for cosmetic defects according to customer standard.
- Recognize and escalate quality issues appropriately within organization and according to severity.
- Follow up / confirmation of Customer quality condition, verify defect occurrence, and ensure clear problem description is captured.
- Understands all SAIA policies and procedures.
- Maintain and administer compliance of SAIA’s Rules and Policies
III. Qualifications/Requirements
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
Experience: One to two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment desired.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
Must have a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.

F. Demonstrates understanding of customer’s standard for seat inspection.

IV. Work Environment
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, head protection, etc. is required.
V. Physical Demands
While preforming duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, hear, walking and standing for extended periods. Occasionally lifting of 30 lbs.
