Job Summary:
The Engineering Associate I is responsible for managing and preparing critical engineering documentation for all company products. This position plays a key role in providing accurate and timely engineering data, maintaining control systems, and supporting the development of manufacturing improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide departments with essential engineering documents, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing drawings, specification sheets, part information, and engineering change orders.
- Assign and manage part numbering systems for new and revised items in the system.
- Coordinate the implementation of engineering changes across departments.
- Provide product structure information and collaborate with purchasing for material procurement.
- Prepare estimates and prototypes, assisting in their procurement and development.
- Verify accuracy of drawings and correct errors as necessary.
- Assist in developing and recommending manufacturing methods for cost reduction and product standardization.
- Perform engineering and sales product research as assigned.
- Set up and operate 3D printers, order supplies, and collaborate on prototype and production of 3D printed parts.
- Contact vendors for product development and cost reduction opportunities, sharing recommendations with Engineering and Purchasing.
- Cross-train on various department tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in a technical or mechanical field and at least one (1) year of experience required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Experience in the fluid power industry and/or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with SolidWorks/CAD and 3D printing preferred.
- SAP experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access, required.
Special Requirements:
- Mechatronics or fluid power certification (or willingness to obtain) desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry required.
- Ability to read blueprints from manual and CAD documents required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software required.
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays, occasionally required.
