This is a highly attractive role for those that have experience in "Mission Critical" environments / 24-7 operation and experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of data communications and networks.
In this role, the Network Administrator is responsible for the management and maintenance of the network specifically focusing on ensuring the network's reliability, security, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications of the Network Administrator - ICS :

- Understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) convergence
- Information security principles
- Cisco Router management
- Networking fundamentals
- Networking components such as routers, cell modems, switches, and servers
- Principles and practices of the design, installation, and maintenance of data and communications networks and applications
- Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios
Responsibilities of the Network Administrator - ICS :
Network Design and Implementation : You will plan, design, and implement the network, ensuring it meets the operational needs of the utility. This includes the configuration and administration of network systems like routers, switches, and other related devices.Technical Documentation : You will create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system or network drawings, specifications, user procedures, and training materials to support the network.System Administration : You will manage and administer network systems, ensuring that all hardware and software are up to date with necessary upgrades, patches, and configurations. This includes managing network security and responding to any issues that arise.Maintenance and Security : You will oversee the maintenance and repair of telemetry and communication systems, ensuring security and reliability. You will also develop strategies for disaster recovery and preventive maintenance.Collaboration and Compliance : You will work closely with the Information & Technology (I&T) Department and other stakeholders to ensure the network complies with city standards and meets the needs of the client.Strategic Planning : You will assist in developing short- and long-term goals for the network, including budgeting and planning for future upgrades or improvements. You will also analyze data to provide insights and recommendations for network enhancements.Troubleshooting and Support : You will monitor the network for issues, respond to alerts, resolve trouble tickets, and replace any failed devices. You will also implement monitoring solutions to ensure continuous network performance. This position does require on-call 24 / 7 / 365 as needed.Supervision and Training : You may supervise and provide guidance to lower-level employees within the career family, ensuring support of the network.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills of the Network Administrator - ICS :
Intermediate to expert with 802.1q VLANs and routing tablesExperience building, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic networksHands on experience in layer 3 protocolsCisco WAN connectivity such as Metro EthernetPreference is experience in Cisco networks coupled with ICSHigh School Diploma & 7 years of experience OR Associate degree & 5 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree & 3 years of experience OR any equivalent combination of education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.Work Location : Charlotte, NC- (On-site)
