Located in Redmond WA, Systimmune Inc. is a clinical-stage bio-pharmaceutical company focused on the treatment of cancer through developing breakthrough-therapeutic multi-specific antibodies, as well as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Currently, the company has eight assets in ongoing clinical trials and a robust preclinical pipeline of therapeutics from discovery through IND-enabling stage.
Summary: The Scientist/Senior Scientist is responsible for monitoring, executing and coordinating activities in the research lab. The position requires extensive experience in antibody-based therapeutics, protein engineering, molecular biology, purification, and characterization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in antibody-based novel biologic drug engineering for therapeutic multi-specific antibodies and Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs).
- Use structural and sequence analysis to guide the design of proteins and expression plasmids utilizing computer software including Pymol, Chimera, IgBlast, Discovery Studio, abYsis, and Geneious.
- Participate in candidate optimization, selection, and validation of stability and critical drug-like properties (stability profile, including thermal stability, aggregation propensity, and resistance to degradation enzymes).
- Perform duties in cloning, mammalian cell line expression, purification, and characterization of protein constructs, engineer potential PTM sites using structure-guided approach.
- Devise comprehensive protein engineering approaches aimed at enhancing antibody stability under various physiological conditions, including formulation, storage, and in vivo administration.
- Use computer software to generate homology models and evaluate their properties via in silico simulation.
- Perform protein analytics such as biolayer interferometry, dynamic light scattering, SDS-PAGE, and HPLC.
- Write and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for regulatory filing, laboratory duties, experiment design, data analysis, instruction operation, and maintenance.
- Support and closely work with other divisions to advance company goals.
- Work with R&D and manufacturing department in China. Plan time to accommodate meetings and technical support with team members in China.
- Participate in timeline planning and decision-making regarding research priorities of company or department and provide information on feasibility of prospective projects.

Education & Experience (Scientist/Senior Scientist)
Ph.D. degree with four or more years of experience in protein engineering.
- scientific background in structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, protein purification and characterization.
- in therapeutic antibody engineering is required.
Language Ability
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills to connect with internal and external CROs. Ability to read or write in Mandarin is a plus.
Math Ability
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong scientific, medical, and analytical abilities with innovative, solution-oriented style.
Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Proficiency with email required.
