Description
The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Compliance Manager will serve as the lead point-of-contact with government agencies and project applicants related to all aspects of CEQA compliance for proposed land development projects. The CEQA Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading project teams, reviewing technical studies, and managing the preparation of Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), Mitigated Negative Declarations (MNDs), Addenda, and Findings. The CEQA Compliance Manager will write, edit, and quality control documents with the assistance of environmental analysts and technical experts and with support of the firm's other CEQA compliance managers and principals. The position also entails guiding CEQA compliance strategy, budget oversight, schedule management, and periodic need to attend public meetings and hearings.
The position of CEQA Compliance Manager is ideal for a candidate who has 8-15 years of CEQA or NEPA document preparation experience, has previously worked as a consultant, enjoys both autonomous and collaborative work environments, and can commit to working in the firm's Irvine office at least 2 days per week.
Job Duties
- Lead the preparation of CEQA compliance documents.
- Advise clients and government agencies about CEQA compliance matters.
- Oversee and assure compliance with CEQA administrative procedures and public noticing.
- Direct, oversee, and train in-house environmental analysts.
- Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, technical experts, project applicants, and other consultants, meeting on a regular basis to move projects forward.
- Manage consultant teams, project schedules, and project budgets.
- Prepare tracking sheets to track technical report status, mitigation measures and other items.
- Conduct research on planning, zoning, permits, and environmental clearances.
- Travel local by vehicle for in-person meetings and public hearings (requires infrequent attendance at evening meetings and hearings).
