Required credentials: Master's degree, KY Teaching Certificate for Elementary Ed and 5 years of elementary teaching experience
Additional KY certificates acceptable: Teacher Leader endorsement, Elementary Program Consultant or Supervisor of Instruction
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Observes classroom instruction and provides feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
2. Models effective teaching strategies with classrooms of students.
3. Assists teachers with lesson planning and provides resources and materials to support staff in effectively implementing the curriculum.
4. Assists with teaching gifted and talented classes by providing students with enrichment opportunities that are rigorous, engaging, and aligned with state standards.
5. Assists with maintaining GT records and works with the Director of Elementary/Secondary Programs and school staff in evaluating and improving GT services.
6. Serves as the school’s RTI Coordinator and provides guidance for RTI instruction.
7. Coordinates the efforts of the school staff in the horizontal and vertical articulation of the curriculum among and between grade levels.
8. Manages the collection of ongoing assessment data and regularly facilitates data analysis meetings with staff as a whole and in PLCs to examine instructional program effectiveness.
9. Serves as a consultant in the selection of instructional resources, equipment and technology, and involves staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet students’ learning needs.
10. Collaborates with other instructional coaches and district administrators to examine curriculum and analyze assessment data.
11. Works with the District Technology Resource Teacher to facilitate student and teacher use of technology.
12. Provides and attends professional development upon request by school and district administrators.
13. Serves as a liaison between the school and the district by communicating to certified staff at the school about professional development opportunities in and outside of the school district, and maintains professional development records for certified staff assigned to the school.
14. Contributes regularly to the district’s and school’s curriculum web pages.
15. Keeps abreast of current research, trends, innovations, and best practice methodology as it pertains to curriculum and pedagogy.
16. Keeps appropriate records and prepares reports in a timely manner.
17. Communicates effectively with students, parents, classroom teachers, and administrators to discuss progress of students and aspects of the gifted program.
18. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, strategies and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
19. Implements and adheres to all rules and regulations, policies, and administrative guidelines as adopted by the School Board for the district.
20. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
21. Maintains appropriate professional appearance.
22. Adheres to the professional Codes of Ethics adopted by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
23. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations and acts as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
24. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
25. Implements and adheres to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.
26. Maintains acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardies, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
27. Performs any other duties assigned by the Principal or other Administrative Staff.
