Business Development Manager
General Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for the overall sales in their assigned market. The BDM is a working manager position, responsible for the overall market growth and their own individual sales targets. This position is responsible for the successful growth of the AE’s who report to them. Along with the sales target responsibilities, the BDM is also responsible for the AE sales results, AEs individual development and estimate proposal accuracy and quality. Business development managers will have direct reports across their defined territory.
TEAM Solution’s business is in a growth plan and these targets are identified annually in each BDM’s Business Development Manager Goals & Incentive Agreement. A BDM’s primary responsibility is to increase the Booked Gross Margin Dollars (BGM$) annually.
To accomplish our objective, TEAM has established a Business Development Management position to drive success through growth of the business.
Major Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain decision making level relationships with the following:
- Owners.
- Engineers.
- Architects.
- General Contractors.
- Mechanical Contractors.
· On the fly, negotiating win/win solutions:
- Understand the customer’s & the business’ desired outcomes, budgets, and funding.
- Manage business sales issues – both external & internal.
- Manage direct employee issues – external, internal, & HR.
- Contract review.
- Perform customer visits, lunch & learns, & events.
· Manage account executives & other direct reports:
- Advise on hiring/firing needs, training and development needs, allocation and performance assessments of personnel within area of responsibility.
- Management recognition & incentive plans.
- Manage the sales forecast for the region.
- Ensure a continues flow of successful business opportunities from the region.
- Manage AE coverage responsibilities.
- Manage AE personal development plans & career paths.
- Manage Sub-Contractors List.
- Direct reports performance reviews.
- Oversee the timely review and approval of all estimates and proposals.
· Markets:
- Develop a strategic plan to grow each market annually based on established growth goals.
- Identify and expand the targeted customer development.
- Work with operations on resource forecasts and specific qualification needs.
- Manage local trade shows and other market events.
- Provide monthly sales reports & forecasts.
· Marketing:
- Define flagship properties.
- Work with operations to develop and maintain flagship properties.
- Manage talent acquisition funnel, strategy, depth & execution.
- Manage marketing collateral and presentation materials.
· Infrastructure, Communication, & Unity:
- Utilize the standardize company estimating and proposal process and format tools.
- Manage and ensure that all Customer and project related information is maintained in the company CRM system.
- Ensure the historical side of sales by assuring that all documentation is maintained properly on 365, SharePoint and other standard company platforms.
- Ensure the proper implementation of all company standards, procedures and productivity tools.
- Attend all required and needed meetings to achieve business success.
- Maintain timely communications and harmonious relationships between team members.
· Quality Control & Support:
- Maintain working knowledge of the company’s product lines and solutions.
- Communicate with and support our operation teams to best serve our customers and fellow employees to achieve a successful and profitable business.
- Gather customer feedback. Work with operations to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Ensure the proper implementation of all company policies.
Business Development Manager Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in related educational fields is preferred.
· 10 years of experience in HVAC sales including at least two years of sales management experience.
· Must have sales management skills that will build an effective sales team and drive result.
· Understanding of the buy/sale hierarchy and how to deliver winning strategies within it.
· Ability to negotiate and drive results.
· Excellent listening and comprehension ability.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Effective at managing multiple tasks and duties efficiently.
· Proficient in Microsoft Platforms and CRM Systems.
