What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortuary Students position at T.I.E.S.?
KMS in Lexington, KY is looking for one mortuary students to join our strong team. We are located on 104 Dennis Dr. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and hard-working.

Responsibilities
- Wear and use the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times during the performance of the job duties that require such equipment.
- Assist with the removal of the decedent from the place of passing and return to facility for future direction from funeral home.
- Comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Borden Enterprises Policies and Procedures.
- Assist with the embalming of decedent and cosmetology according to industry standards and practices, technical, safety and sanitary requirements.
- Dress and position decedent in casket or alternative container and deliver to funeral home.
- Maintain record of removal and embalming of all deceased persons for school purposes.
- Maintain all embalming instrumentation and equipment as specified by manufacturer’s instruction.
- Treat decedent with dignity and respect.
- Maintain clean operating area and equipment and comply with all rules and regulations regarding sanitation and hazardous waste.
- Willingness to be certified to operate crematory retort and follow standard procedures.
- Light housekeeping to keep the facilities in order. This includes keeping work areas tidy and general straightening up.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in Mortuary School (REQUIRED)
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to take direction
- Eagerness to help and learn
- Some funeral home experience is helpful but not required
