Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A Buying Agent is a motivated, goal-driven, and team-oriented professional responsible for creating accurate purchase orders and supporting the Purchasing, Sales, and Logistics teams. This role involves working collaboratively across departments to ensure a seamless supply chain that meets production needs. Key responsibilities include analyzing forecasts, developing a deep understanding of product lines, creating and managing purchasing platforms for various products, and continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement. This is a dynamic and evolving role where a motivated candidate will have the opportunity to learn new purchasing strategies and develop valuable skills that will enhance their career growth and future opportunities
Purchasing Duties and Developments:
- Oversee the entire purchase order cycle, from creation to receipt, ensuring accuracy in quantities, prices, and delivery dates. Regularly follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Ability to understand Excel metrics and formulas that lead you to the best purchase decision possible.
- Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Ensure and monitor a continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
- Develop positive relationships with suppliers.
- Maintain detailed records of product descriptions and current pricing, along with updating vendor/supplier records.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Ensure purchase order due dates within MRP are accurate daily and/or when necessary.
- Develop and propose new purchasing strategies to drive continuous improvement, while collaborating with the Purchasing Supervisor, and implement tools to streamline processes, boost data accuracy, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Monitor market trends and report any trends to the supervisor to help improve future purchases.
- Collaborate closely with the Logistics Manager to ensure on time deliveries and track order progress.
- Optimize inventory management by adjusting purchasing strategies to reduce overstock and ensure the availability of essential items.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs through strategic sourcing, bulk purchasing, or negotiating with suppliers. Evaluate alternative suppliers or products to achieve better pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure purchasing decisions align with the company’s sustainability goals by sourcing approved governmental materials and ensuring compliance with local and international procurement regulations.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Strong Excel Skills. Specific understanding of Vlookup, Sumifs, Power Query, and Pivot Tables.
- Buyer I experience and wanting to grow into a Buyer II mentality.
- Looking for a minimum of 2 years work experience within Purchasing, Material Planning, and/or Demand Planning.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices and ability to monitor market trends.
- Microsoft Teams experience is a plus.
- Microsoft Power BI experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
