Overview
This position is responsible for assisting with moving and spotting equipment necessary to facilitate the needs of the company as it relates to organizing and processing materials and finished goods. This position performs any necessary safe driving functions to move goods or materials while maintaining compliance with all Department of Transportation, State and Local regulations. Additionally, this position is responsible for any and all required paperwork and logging in order to maintain compliance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a valid Class A CDL license, DOT medical card, and adhere to all DOT regulations while driving a company class A vehicle.
- Responsible for maintaining fuel levels of tractor(s) and trailers.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of all equipment to ensure safe and proper equipment operations.
- Ensure proper signatures and processing of all company bills of lading, manifests, and any required documents.
- Notify transportation leadership of any repairs that need to be made to equipment.
- Drop and hook trailers and complete yard moves as needed in a fast-paced environment while upholding safety standards.
- Complete yard checks and assist leadership with on-site equipment management.
- Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and HACCP support programs, inclusive of conformity to company, customer, and government standards.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure safety compliance.
- Perform other duties as required or directed
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Ability to work independently while prioritizing safety.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic ability to utilize technology.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1 year minimum of prior verifiable CDL driving experience with tractor trailers within the past 3 years.
Working Conditions/Environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate, listen, stand, lift, bend, crouch/kneel, and walk throughout their shift. Ascending and/or descending from the equipment throughout the shift will be constant and routine. The employee is routinely required to reach and handle, seize, hold, or grasp to operate objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to move or lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment involves moving mechanical parts while exposed to outside weather conditions. Additionally, this position is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
