Overview

Position Summary:

This person packs finished products into cases, stacks filled cases on pallets for shipping, and performs other duties as needed to ensure continuous product filling/packaging line operation.

Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

• Review all pertinent SOP’s and is a QI (Qualified Individual) for the position
• Packs various bag sizes of product in cartons.
• Verifies quality and quantity of bags.
• Checks code dates on bags and labels.
• Checks all labeling for accuracy, bag leaks, and proper date coding.
• Ensures that the product is correctly palletized.
• Cleans all areas of the production floor as necessary or requested.
• Visually inspects product for quality defects and removes any defective product.
• Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety, and productivity in the plant area.
• Provides support for the machine operator in maintaining continuous production.
• Works cooperatively with other members of the packaging line.
• Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA, and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer, and government standards
• Strive to be a safety solutions leader by maintaining the 200% for safety mindset. Participate in engagement activities, complete required safety training, and aid in identifying hazards utilizing BBS and Safety Monitor programs.
• Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to lift 5 pounds frequently and 12 pounds above the shoulder occasionally. Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, and moving parts/equipment. The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required per company GMP and safety standards.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work is preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude is helpful.

Working Conditions/Environment

Must be comfortable working in an environment that has strong odors, dust, and variable temperatures. Position requires standing, bending, twisting for up to 9 hours a day.
