Job Summary
The Spice Mixer is responsible for combining liquid and granular ingredients to produce sauces and dressings.
This role operates mixing equipment, pumps, mills, and valves, maintains production schedules, and provides product samples to the lab as specified.
Responsibilities
- PRACTICES INTEGRITY, RESPECT, ACCOUNTABILITY, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, AND POSITIVE INTERACTIONS WITH TEAM MEMBERS AND VISITORS.
- Records all information as required.
- Weighs ingredients for the mixing process.
- Rolls or pushes ingredient drums and pallets to weigh and prepare for each batch according to schedule and specifications.
- Reads scales and performs arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
- Operates HMIs (computer panel controls) to regulate and control bulk ingredients and pumping flows.
- Maintains standard production quantities/rates for each product.
- Cleans and rinses equipment according to specified procedures.
- Monitors equipment to detect malfunctions; makes minor adjustments/repairs; communicates mechanical problems to maintenance.
- Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hoppers or other feeding devices.
- Coordinates information and equipment with prior and next shifts Leads and other departments.
- Fills in for and assists other departments when necessary.
- Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Lead and Management.
- Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training programs/records.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Must be able to successfully obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification and safely maintain per company and OSHA standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally & written to and work well with Team Members & Management.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and strong math skills are required.
- Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
Working Conditions/Environment
- Works in a manufacturing environment where the Team Member is regularly required to speak, read, and comprehend, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb, and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Must be able to push/pull 150 pounds short distances.
- Lift up to 75 pounds repetitively.
- Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks.
- May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment, and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.
- SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards.
