Responsibilities

  • Develop economic models and frameworks to enhance the investment process within the fixed income platform. Projects may include creating proprietary financial conditions measures, assessing their impact on various economic indicators, and improving forecasting capabilities for inflation, labor markets, and U.S. private consumption.
  • Establish a framework for analyzing and modeling market indicators such as treasury yields and the dollar, focusing on the interaction between economic variables and interest rate market measures.
  • Investigate alternative data sources for economic indicators as needed and create dashboards to present and summarize data and model results for internal stakeholders.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of U.S. data available through platforms like Macrobond, FRED, and Bloomberg to independently execute projects.
  • Address ad-hoc requests and conduct data analysis to support client interactions and internal stakeholders, including portfolio managers, CIOs, and portfolio specialists. This may involve preparing scenario analyses for various economic projects and developing presentations.
  • Areas for Growth and Expansion of Responsibilities

  • Compose brief commentaries on data developments for distribution in internal communications.
  • Write RMS reports and present research findings in internal meetings.
  • Collaborate with the U.S. Economics team to expand coverage to include the Canadian economy.
  • Qualifications

    Required :

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a strong academic background AND
  • 1-2 years relevant work experience Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Preferred :

  • Experience and strong interest in economics and fixed income investing
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct in-depth thematic research across a broad spectrum of topics which can be additive to the investment process
  • Demonstrated ability to derive meaningful insights from in-depth research and analysis
  • Progress toward CFA designation
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with ability to work independently and with others
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • FINRA Requirements

    FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

    Work Flexibility

    This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.

    Base Salary Ranges

    110,000.00-$140,000.00 for the location of : Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers

    110,000.00-$140,000.00 for the location of : Washington, D.C.

    110,000.00-$140,000.00 for the location of : New York, California

    Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
