Job Position: Phlebotomist

Location: Harbor City, CA

Pay Rate: $28.00 - $30.00/hour (Dependent on Experience)

Description:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team in Harbor City, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Serve patients by identifying the best method for retrieving blood samples and other specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures.
2. Verify test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log and bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
3. Verify patient identification and explain sampling procedures to patients.
4. Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
5. Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures, and observing isolation procedures.
6. Perform bleeding-times tests by entering results to the computer and notifying pathologist of results falling outside normal ranges.
7. Maintain quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule, recording results in the quality-control log, and identifying and reporting needed changes.
8. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
9. Reassure patients who are nervous about sampling procedures and apply dressings to wounds created by blood draws.
10. Update patient records.
11. Maintain an organized and clean workspace.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

1. Adept at venipuncture, phlebotomy, and finger sticks.
2. Minimum six months of experience in an Acute or Sub-Acute setting.
3. Minimal experience with neonate and pediatric draws on actual patients.
4. High level of acuity with computer applications.
5. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
6. Interpersonal skills and compassion.
7. Analyzing information, critical thinking, and problem solving.
8. Knowledge of infection control procedures.
9. Bedside manner.
10. Attention to detail.

Salary : $28 - $30
