What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at T.W. Clark Construction LLC?
The Assistant Controller will report to the Controller and assists with a wide range of administrative and accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable "owning" the general ledger and the HR side of the house. They will support the AP, AR, and contract administration processes. They will be constantly looking for ways to improve workflows, processes and policies throughout the company. They will be detail oriented, well-organized, curious, and focused on solutions rather than problems.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll, manage employee benefits, onboard employees, and maintain personnel files
- Perform monthly AR invoicing and post cash receipts
- Support (and help streamline) the AP process
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and report on all income and expense variances to Controller
- Aids in preparation of year-end financial statements and taxes
- Prepares various financial data analyses using Excel
- Manages and maintains business and operational documents
- Organizes and manages hard-copy and electronic files
Qualifications
- Strong organizational, technical, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to perform accounting transactions and duties independently or with little supervision
- Moderate to advanced proficiency in any accounting system, Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Solutions oriented - don't make a problem, solve a problem
- Curious - always seeking to learn new concepts and to grow as a person and as a professional
- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
- 3 - 5 years experience in accounting (prior construction accounting experience is a big plus)
